Surrounded by breathtaking scenery of the Northern Alps and cradled against the Sea of Japan, ARAI MOUNTAIN & SNOW PARK is now entering it’s ninth season bigger and better than ever. The abundant fresh sea air here brings some of the biggest snowfalls in the world, which allow us an extended white season through most of May.  See more below... We are hosting two of our annual events this year. The first is our New Year's Extravaganza, that combines fireworks and lasers with music and a large scale production on our heated plaza. The second event is the Japan Paralympics 2002 taking place on the weekend of February 15 - 17.

Approaching ARAI MOUNTAIN & SNOW PARK for the first time, one drives by seemingly endless rice fields shadowed by Mt. Ohgenashi. From here, it's a tough call to either relax in the variety of warmths and comforts of our village, or head straight for the abundant fresh powder on our slopes.

The exhilaration felt 1,429 meters above the sea at the top of Ohgenashi mountain, with both Sado Island at your back and wide-open slopes and challenging courses in front of you, fulfills the true attraction of winter sports and the wish to have fun. A visit to ARAI MOUNTAIN & SNOW PARK, complete with it’s magnificent towering peaks and hillsides, reveals the essence of snow sports to visitors of all ages. The beautiful snow-covered crests and valleys permits one to experience views of unbridled winter nature from the safety and security of our world class all season destination resort.

There are many ways to enjoy the winter fun of ARAI MOUNTAIN & SNOW PARK. These include snowboarding, cross-country skiing, snow shoeing, snow-mobiling and sledding. Half-pipe, Mogul, Long-distance and Kids runs with hard-packed or powder snow, offer a wide variety of challenges that are all easily accessible by our world-class gondola and a variety of ski lifts. More open and free, our diverse slope layout provides courses for both boarders and skiers, from the newcomers to the seasoned expert.
